01Two devices · Two layers · One plan
Volnewmer and Ultraformer
MPT, together
Ultraformer MPT lifts at the SMAS layer. Volnewmer tightens the dermis above it. Used together, they address skin laxity at both depths, and Silk Clinical is the one South Island clinic operating both devices.

Quick Answer
The Volnewmer and Ultraformer MPT combination at Silk Clinical Aesthetics in Christchurch pairs monopolar radiofrequency with high-intensity focused ultrasound. Ultraformer MPT lifts at the SMAS layer, the structural layer a surgeon targets; Volnewmer tightens dermal collagen above it. Sessions are separate visits with no downtime from either device. Sequencing and spacing are planned at consultation. Volnewmer full face is $2,500; Ultraformer full face including neck is $2,500.
02Two mechanisms
What each device
actually does
Skin ages at more than one depth. The SMAS layer, the sheet of tissue a surgeon repositions during a facelift, gradually descends. Above it, the dermis loses collagen density and the skin surface loosens. A single technology addresses one of those problems well; it does not address both.
Ultraformer MPT is high-intensity focused ultrasound. It concentrates energy at fixed depths, down to the SMAS at 4.5mm, creating precise thermal points that trigger lifting and new collagen where the structure has descended. It is the lifting tool.
Volnewmer is monopolar radiofrequency. Rather than focusing on points, it heats the collagen-rich dermis broadly and evenly, contracting existing collagen fibres immediately and stimulating remodelling over the following months. It is the tightening tool.
The pairing works because the mechanisms do not overlap: one lifts the foundation, the other firms the surface. For how the two technologies differ in general, read when to choose RF vs HIFU.
03The protocol
01Step one
One consultation, both layers
Assessment comes first. Your treating nurse maps whether your skin needs lift, tightening, or both, and in what order, before anything is booked.

02Step two
Ultraformer MPT lifts the foundation
Focused ultrasound reaches the SMAS layer, the structural layer a surgeon repositions, creating precise thermal points that trigger lifting where the structure has descended. It is the lifting tool.

03Step three
Volnewmer tightens the surface
Monopolar radiofrequency heats the collagen-rich dermis broadly and evenly, contracting existing fibres and stimulating remodelling over the months that follow. It is the tightening tool.

04No fixed recipe
How the plan is built
We do not publish a fixed recipe for the combination, because there is not one. The right order and the right gap between sessions depend on your skin condition, your degree of laxity at each layer, and what you want addressed first. Your treating nurse maps that sequence at consultation, and the sessions happen on separate visits.
What we can say in advance: both treatments are non-invasive, neither requires downtime, and both develop their results over three to six months as new collagen forms. Individual results vary, and we will tell you honestly at consultation what the combination can and cannot achieve for your face. If your goal is the kind of change only a surgical facelift produces, the combination is not the answer, and we will say so.

Pricing
Each device is priced individually. Volnewmer full face is $2,500 (from $500 for the eye area). Ultraformer MPT full face including neck is $2,500 (smaller areas from $500). Combined pricing for your plan is confirmed at consultation. Prices are a guide; see the full price list.
06Combination questions
Combination questions
Because they work at different depths through different mechanisms. Ultraformer MPT is focused ultrasound: it reaches the SMAS layer, the same structural layer a surgeon lifts, and is the lifting tool. Volnewmer is monopolar radiofrequency: it heats the dermis broadly and is the tightening tool. Skin that is both lax at depth and loose at the surface benefits from addressing both layers, which neither device does alone.
It depends on your skin, your priorities, and your timeline, which is why sequencing and spacing are decided at your consultation rather than published as a fixed recipe. Your treating nurse will map the order and the gap between sessions to what your skin needs.
Each device is priced individually: Volnewmer full face is $2,500 and Ultraformer MPT full face including neck is $2,500, with smaller areas priced lower on each device's page. Combined pricing for your plan is confirmed at consultation. Prices are a guide and individual dosage and coverage vary.
Neither device requires downtime. Each session may leave mild redness or tenderness that settles quickly, and you can return to normal activities the same day. The sessions happen on separate visits, so there is no compounding recovery.
Clients with early to moderate laxity who want both lift and surface tightening are the natural fit. If your laxity is significant and your goal is the kind of change a surgical facelift produces, the combination will not get you there, and we will say so at consultation and suggest the right referral. Individual results vary.
Each device carries its own longevity: Volnewmer results typically last 12 to 24 months, and Ultraformer MPT results typically last one to two years. Both develop over three to six months as new collagen forms. Maintenance sessions on either device can sustain results; your nurse will recommend a schedule.
